The use of relevant and highly informative assays can rapidly eliminate candidates of lesser efficavy or undesirable effects, and can save the drug companies time and money that are often invested in pursuing unsuitable drug candidates.

Many of the Amnis imaging flow cytometry applications are ideally suited for characterizing drug candidates, including cell signaling, cell-cell interactions, chemokine-induced morphology alterations, cell death, co-localization, phagocytosis, amongst others. Furthermore, these applications work with primary cells such as whole blood leukocytes and can often be multiplexed.
