Overview

The KUBTEC XSEED® line applies cabinet X-ray imaging to seed and plant science, making it possible to assess seed quality non-destructively — the seed is imaged, graded and can still be planted. Cracks, voids, empty seeds, insect damage and fill quality are visible without cutting anything open. All three models run DIGISEED analysis software for customisable, repeatable batch testing across seed species. Merkel Technologies supplies the XSEED line in Israel.

Use Cases

XSEED® mini: the entry point — a 7 × 12 cm imaging area at 50 µm resolution with a 20–50 kV source, benchtop or cart-mounted, for smaller studies or where bench space is tight.
XSEED®: the mid-range system, with a 12 × 15 cm detector, Image Blender™ merging X-ray and optical views, four magnification levels and automated imaging with manual override.
XSEED® Plus: the largest field of view at 24 × 31 cm with a 50 kV, 2.0 mA source and the most sensitive detector in the line, five magnification levels up to 3×, for resolving minute seed cracks, voids and evidence of infestation.
Seed quality and viability screening: grading batches non-destructively so tested seed remains usable.
Plant breeding programmes: comparing seed fill and internal structure across lines and treatments.
