Apogee A60 Micro
Overview and technology
Flow Cytometry is an extremely effective tool for cell counting and molecular analysis but is usually limited to particles larger than ~400nm. Many emerging fields such as virology, microbiology, extra-cellular particles, and exosomes require higher sensitivity. The Apogee A60’s novel optical design allows detection of particles from 110nm thus making FACS analysis available for these disciplines. With up to 3 forward scatter detectors and 9 fluorescent channels, it is now possible to classify small particles at great speed and with robust statistics.
Use cases
The field of exosomes as treatment agents or as disease biomarkers is flourishing yet it suffers from poor availability of tools to properly classify them based on molecular attributes such as membrane proteins. Common methods can give a rough size distribution of the exosomes but that is not enough to find the sub-population of interest. The Apogee A60 allows classification on both size and molecular properties using multi-staining of the sample with fluorescent antibodies.
Unique benefits:
A fast, accurate, and robust method for nano-particles classification in the fields of life sciences.
